CRH New Designs: Rain Delay. . .

CRH Autumn/Winter 2008 Line: Delayed. . .

Well we have been in a severe drought here in South Carolina for months but we just got RAIN! While I am so glad we are getting some much needed rain it puts the launch of our new designs on hold. I was able to salvage a few pictures to browse through but we are rescheduling their debut for Tuesday October 14th.

***Giveaway***
While we are waiting for the rain to dry up and the sun to come out I thought it would be fun to have an early giveaway and celebrate Fall! Tell me your favorite Autumn memories in the comments below and I will choose a winner!!!

My favorite autumn memories are of walking in the woods around my hometown in New York. The colors of the leaves were breathtaking and the smell in the air was so refreshing. More than anything, I miss the fall in New York.

Okay well I think it is only fair that I share my favorite memory! All growing up my dad (my parents were divorced) would take us for Halloween. He would get us all dressed up and take us house to house. I LOVE and cherish those memories. . .

My favorite autumn memory. Hmmm...

My parents were great at encouraging learning at home and one year our whole family made pilgrim outfits and our friends sewed Indian costumes. We spent the fall preparing for our own thanksgiving feast, we dried corn and made corn husk dolls, we went hunting for wild animal to make authentic meals, we harvested from the garden and on thanksgiving day we had an authentic feast. It was amazing! Before we ate we even spent some time eating hard tack in a dark room like we were on the mayflower. An amazing way to make thanksgiving (and fall) come alive!

Autumn is my absolute favorite season. Unfortunately we do not get the pleasure of experiencing much of a fall here in south Florida, but my hubby is from Minnesota and we try to go up there as often as we can with our kids. We all love the beauty of it all, with the crisp smell in the air, the just breathtaking foliage, going to the apple orchards. It is just a time that we all enjoy so very much and only get to experience once in a while so it really means so much. Sorry for the rant, but it is such a beautiful time of the year.

Now that I live in So. Cali, we don't get much for autumn. My favorite memories would be from where I grew up in England where the colors change so beautifully at this time of year. There is a forest near my parent's house that you could easily get lost in just running about and kicking up piles of leaves! My favorite memories would be walking through there and just enjoying the quiet sounds of nature.

My favorite memory of the fall...I remember being about 8 years old and raking all the leaves from the yard into a big pile with my sisters and cousin then jumping into them! Crunchy leaves undeerneath us and in our hair with that amazing autumn smell. Of course, after jumping into the pile, we had to rake them up all over again :)

My favorite autumn memory is the day my husband and I went to Paris Mountain. We were both in grad school, so we didn't have time to properly enjoy the season, but that Saturday we took our books (and some steaks) so that we could grill, study, and enjoy the leaves all at once. I think I watched the squirrels more than I studied, but it was so relaxing, and I really enjoyed the time with my husband.

I think my favorite memories have to be the times my parents took us pumpkin picking. My dad would drive us way out of the city to a real pumpkin farm that had every type and size imaginable. It was an all day event, you could spend hours just trying to pick the perfect pumpkin. I always tried to find the most perfect looking pumpkin and for some reason I liked the tall, narrow ones. When we got home we would make a pumpkin display on our long brick fireplace hearth with hay.

I think my favorite memory of fall is from October 1990.
I was young, I was soo in love and on October 3, (my boyfriend`s birthday also)Germany celebrated its re-unification with a big firework display on the river Rhein. We stood there among thousands and there was so much joy and so much love around us, I will never forget that night.

I grew up in Alaska and the weather changes pretty dramatically in the Fall. My favorite memory of the season would be walking home from school, crunching the dried leaves and smelling fire-place smoke in the air. It was never a strong, dangerous smell but enough to let you know that there was a warm fire at home after the windy walk home.

My favorite fall memory is going to the pumpkin patch with my parents when I was a child. I would count down for days and was almost like Christmas. I loved the chill in the air, the smells and the colors of the yellow apples, orange pumpkins, and red leaves. Nothing could beat some fresh doughnuts and cider. My parents are gone, but I always think of our special time together at the pumpkin patch.

My favorite autumn memory isn't too old - just a few hours ago! I took my daughter to the pumpkin patch for the first time today - she ran around looking for a "little pumpkin". She tried to pick up each one and was finally able to find one she could carry on her own - it's sitting on our front porch now! (she's 22 months old).

When I was little my mother was in and out of a mental hospital, needless to say my sister and I grew up a bit differently than then other kids. We were always uncertain and nervous. My mother was a warm and wonderful person, she just had a really hard time coping. During the fall she would completely transform our home, I mean top to bottom. It looked like Fall had happened inside. On Halloween morning she put on a "boo breakfast" she made special menus with things like boo-berry pancakes, she'd put candy corns in the butter. Just silly little things. The lights were turned down as low as possible, she'd put on scary sounds. It was just awesome. She'd give us out trick or treat sacks and they were filled with treats. I will never forget the feeling I had when I'd wake up on Halloween morning. I have maintained the tradition and I do the Boo breakfast for my daughter. It has a completely different feel than the ones my mother had for us, but it makes me remember that warmth and love come at the most difficult times.
